Tree Talk
About traditional and modern ‘tree-facts’ and about everything you always wanted to know about trees (because they can't tell you themselves)
A Sunday afternoon stroll in the park is always comforting. We discuss anything but nothing in particular. We are one with our surroundings and ourselves. We watch out for roots crossing our path so that we do not stumble over them. But... the trees around us, who most of times are way older then we are... we often forget to notice them. And their leaves, over which we sometimes slip, what do we know about them? Do we know if they are from an old oak, an ash or a hornbeam? We throw a stick for the dog, but from which tree exactly is its origin?
This book offers an entirely different ‘walk in the woods’. You will learn about the creatures that live in the trees and they will guide you to the deeper meaning of the ‘lords of the woods’. They explain what events occur around its roots, they will tell about their ‘co-occupants’, how it is why a certain tree grows on a specific spot and why others can’t.
Sometimes they tell you about healing potions which can be made by using the bark of a tree or how to make a (witches) broom of its twigs. All these creatures are very proud of their tree en and tell you about its qualities enthusiastically, for your ears only.
Even if you have never looked at a tree up close, or if you just want to tell somebody about one, but specifically if you just want to learn more about trees, this is the book for you. Because of the beautiful and inspiring illustrations every page is a surprise! So next time during your walk through the park or the woods and of course, after having read this book, you know where to get your answers. You will know where to find the ‘Tree People’ and they will only be too happy to tell you their story again and again. Before you know, you will have many extra friends! One advice: read this book on a beautiful summer- or autumn day under a tree before making a stroll and you will see that the Whole Park or wood comes alive before your eyes!
