The Energy Recovery Program makes it possible for everybody to improve his or her condition through cooking the ‘medicinal way’. Anyone can learn to discover and experience himself or herself which way of cooking agrees with them best. You will notice that curative cooking eventually is nothing other than getting in touch again with your personal, healthy and natural source of information: yourself.
Marijke de Waal Malefijt and Tanja Visser (both experts on organic and natural diets) teach us a special way of cooking where ‘taste’ is combined with ‘condition’. Even more so: cooking becomes more fun and more exciting because it turns into a ‘sport’ to notice how to optimally gain energy from food. Based on the ideas of traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda they give advice and recipes to allow for everyone to choose their own proper therapeutic diet for their personal constitution (Vata, Pitta or Kapha) and physical condition. The Energy Recovery Program concentrates on the ‘liver energy’ or lack thereof: after all, the liver is the internal organ that processes all the nutritive substances from our food. Two partners support the liver: the digestive energy (digestion) and the energy cache (kidneys, adrenal glands).
Marijke de Waal Malefijt and Tanja Visser teach us to use the proper foodstuffs in order to make the liver (energy) and its two partners function again at full force. To find out the condition of your liver (f.i. exhausted, stagnated or overheated) and your digestive energy and energy cache the authors provide helpful fill-in forms and teach you to recognize your personal reaction to foodstuffs, such as What is the effect of cacao topping a cappuccino? How will my liver react to my favourite salad (with salami, tomatoes and olives)? How does a stir-fried dish influence my digestive system?
For every pattern of the liver-, digestive- and cache-energy and every constitution a special nutritional advice is given. These are accompanied by uncomplicated recipes for tasty, energy increasing dishes and drinks (breakfast, vegetable- and cereal dishes, soup, meat- and fish dishes as well as vegetarian courses).
